12 things you should leave behind when you enter 2016.
As 2015 draws to a terrific close, we are all in introspection mode on how we could have made the year better and what mistakes not to repeat in 2016. Old habits that have gotten you in a bind last year, need to be chucked out. You cannot be chasing your dreams, if you are still bogged down by baggage from the past.
So, here are our 12 things that we think you should let go, so that you can create a successful year.
01. Stop comparing.
You’ll keep hearing from your aunt about that super successful cousin who is earning a shit-load of money working a job for some MNC, whereas you are stuck with your startup and trying to make ends meet. Stop it ! The only person you should be comparing yourself with is yourself
02.Thinking you’re not ready.
Understand that nobody is ever 100 percent ready for the opportunities and challenges that come their way. It’s all about going with the flow and making things happen along the way.
03. Living in the past and worrying about the future.
If you want success, you can’t stay stuck in the past. Neither can you keep on worrying about how the future is going to turn out. The best way to do it is to live for the moment.
04.Trying to live up to people’s expectations.
Now this is one thing, that noone can achieve. Set high standards for yourself, work your ass off to achieve it. What other people think of you deserve to be chucked out the window. You are your own boss ! Period.
Passionate, determined people do remarkable things. Never allow your self-doubt to get in the way of what you want to accomplish.
If you want something today, the best time to start working for it was YESTERDAY. Stop waiting and start doing.
Now this never got anyone anywhere. Even if its your biggest competitor, you are not going to gain anything by holding a grudge against them. The sooner you forgive, the sooner you can move on.
08.Saying “I can’t.”
Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you will always be right. It’s your choice what to say.
09. Putting up a façade.
Buying things that you don’t need, just to show everyone that you are happy and successful will definitely get you nowhere.
You are doing your team no good, if you keep micro managing them. That’s a waste of your time, and it will keep your team stagnant – if you keep them at all.
11.Playing it safe.
There is no such thing as a “safe road” in today’s world. Keeping pace with the relentless march of technology means the occasional leap into the unknown.
12. Breaking promises.
The fastest way to lose credibility is to break your promises. If you say you are going to do something, do it. Don’t do anything that will break credibility or ruin the reputation that you’ve worked so hard to achieve. Don’t overpromise and don’t underdeliver.
We must be willing to let go of the life we have so we can have the new life that is waiting for us.
Wishing you a happy new year.
